Kelly Ellis Costume Design

Kelly Ellis is a professional TV and film Costume Designer from Wales who works with the BBC and S4C. Kelly has worked on shows including Casualty, The 1900 Island, and Pobol Y Cwm.

Challenges

The website project had 4 main challenges:

  • Easy to manage: Kelly wanted a website that was easy to manage after launch.

  • Display portfolio: Kelly wanted to display her portfolio and show her expertise as an established professional costume designer.

  • Editorial: The design of the website needed to look clean, minimal and editorial.

  • Creatively display resume: Kelly had a long resume of relevant costume projects she had worked on that needed to go on the website to show prospective clients.

Solutions

To solve these challenges, I designed and built a website with the following solutions:

  • Built the website on Squarespace due to its customisable nature and ease of updating. This allows Kelly to easily update the website whenever she wants to add new TV shows and film projects.

  • Used a large stylish font for headings throughout and a simple black and white monochromatic colour palette to give it an editorial, fashionable feel.

  • For the resume page, I included anchor text links to make it quicker for people to search Kelly’s CV. Each of the projects has separate pages to organise photos and provide more information about the film or TV show.

  • On the homepage is scrolling text with news of upcoming projects or projects currently being worked on.

  • Created an contact form so companies can enquire through the website.

Results

Above average engagement from visitors

Analytics show that people are finding the website highly engaging and spending on average 75 seconds viewing each page, far exceeding industry standards of 54 seconds. This indicates that visitors are deeply engaged with our content and actively exploring Kelly’s offerings.

For every 10 people, 1 person becomes a lead

Above average form conversion rate of 10%. Meaning for every 10 people viewing the enquiry form, 1 person is being a lead. The average form conversion rate is 2-3%.
